German Eastern Front Medal (Medaille für die Winterschlacht im Osten) with carton Pouch. The German Eastern Front Medal was instituted on 26 May 1942 to commemorate the first winter campaign in Russia, operation Barbarossa. The medal was also known as the "Frozen Meat Medal". Approximately 3 million examples have been awarded. The medal comes with its original ribbon and carton pouch as found together. The pouch is nicely maker marked by the company of 'Rudolf Souval' from Wien (Vienna). The pouch is in slightly damaged condition. Nice set in good used condition!
