Spange to the Iron Cross 2nd Class
Spange 1939 to the Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914 (Wiederholungsspange 1939 für das Eiserne Kreuz 2.Klasse 1914). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross series of awards in the First and Second Classes and established the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross and two new Spangen (Bars) for the first and second class awards to be bestowed to recipients of the 1939 Iron Cross who had also been awarded a first or second class 1914 Iron Cross during WWI. The 'Buntmetall' clasp is having the typical curved datebar for the so called "1st pattern". The clasp is not visible maker marked but can very likely be attributed to the company of 'Boerger & Co' from Berlin. The clasp is complete with both it's original prongs. The clasp still retains most of its original silver finish and the details are pronounced and stunning. Hard to find original example in very good condition!
