Wehrmacht 'Sumpftarn' Camouflage Smock

Description

Wehrmacht 'Sumpftarn' Camouflage Smock (Tarnhemd für Scharfschützen). The Wehrmacht camouflage smocks were based on the Waffen-SS camouflage smocks and were officially introduced in late 1942. The first pattern smocks came in the army 'Splittertarn' camouflage pattern, and were without a hood. The second pattern smocks came in the army 'Sumpftarn' (tan/water) camouflage pattern and included an integral hood. The smocks were designed to fit over the standard service uniform and are therefore quite large. This smock is showing the Sumpf 43 pattern camouflage. The smock is having seven pair of stitched eyelets for a drawstring closure, the smock is having a replaced drawstring. The original drawstring around the waistline is present. The smock is having two vertical breast openings, one if them is nicely marked with 'R-B-Nr.0/0456/0079' and the size 'II'. The smock is showing only minimal traces of usage and some minor damages, see photos for details. The smock is showing strong colours. This smock is complete with it's original almost allways missing veil, the camouflaged veil is slightly damaged. Great for a Wehrmacht sniper display, hard to find desirable original smock!
