WH (Heer) Infantry Officer's Visor Cap - 'Windhund'
WH (Heer) Infantry Officer's Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. Although enlisted personnel were issued their caps from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored caps. This is a nice privately purchased Officer's example, complete with celluloid manufacturer's sweat-diamond ('Raute'), maker marked by the famous 'Peküro' company and distributer 'Albert Kuhl'. The cap is approximately a size '57'. The Visor cap is piped in the white 'Truppenfarbe' (branch-colour) for Infantry personnel. The leather sweatband is in good used condition and nicely unit marked with '6./J.R.79' (Infanterie-Regiment 79) which was part of the 16th Infantry Division Windhund. The cap is complete with its original early pattern nickel-silver Heeres cap eagle and hand-embroidered cocarde. The cap is having a correct officer's type chinstrap. The cap is showing some minor traces of usage and/or storage, some of the stitching to the visor might have been redone, see photos. The cap is having a great shape. Nice original Infantry Officer's Visor Cap from an interesting Regiment in good condition!
