WH (Heer) 'Pioniere' Officer's Visor Cap
WH (Heer) 'Pioniere' Officer's Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. Although enlisted personnel were issued their caps from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored caps. This is a nice private purchased Officer's example. Complete with celluloid manufacturers sweat-diamond ('Raute'). The cap is size 56 marked. On the inside of the leather sweatband the cap is maker marked by the company 'Alfred Valet' from Stuttgart and dated 1939. The Visor cap is piped in the black 'Truppenfarbe' (branch-colour) for Engineer (Pioniere) personnel. The cap is complete with its original officer's type hand-embroiderd cocarde and early aluminum cap-eagle, the eagle is missing two prongs but stays in place steady. The cap shows normal traces of usage and has a great so-called 'Sattelform' shape, see photos. Nice original visor cap in good used condition!
