World War 2 Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse) that comes on its original screw-back disc (Schraubscheibe). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. The 'Schinkelform' cross has a three piece construction and has a magnetic iron core. The cross comes on its original and naturally functional screw-back set-up. The cross is not visible maker marked but can be attributed to production by the company of 'Wilhelm Deumer' from Lüdenscheid. Nice and scarce original cross in stunning condition!
