World War I German Patriotic "Dicke Bertha" Desk Ornament. The 8,5cms high pole top is made of non-magnetic metal and was probably intended to be placed on a marble base to serve as a desk ornament. The ornament is showing a 42cm Brummer grenade as fired with the Gamma-Gerät, having a barrel diameter of 42 cm (17 in), making it one of the largest artillery pieces ever fielded. Decorative original piece!
