NSB 'Overste Mussert' Cufftitle

Description

Dutch NSB-related 'Overste Mussert' Cufftitle (Mouwband). Cufftitle as worn by members of the NSB Vendel "Overste Mussert", named after the brother of 'Anton Mussert'. Lieutenant Colonel, J.A. Mussert, brother of Anton Mussert, was commander of the Pontonniers and Torpedists Corps in Dordrecht. On 14 May 1940, he had to retreat with his staff to Sliedrecht, when two officers suddenly entered his office. They accused him of betrayal, against which he resisted. One of the officers, a certain Kruithof, shot the Lieutenant Colonel with four shots with his revolver. One NSB unit (Vendel) has been named posthumously after Lieutenant Colonel, J.A. Mussert, brother of Anton Mussert and was called "Overste Mussert". This is a Dutch made cufftitle showing the machine embroidered script 'Overste Mussert'. The cufftitle measures approximately 40 cms in length and is in clearly used and tunic removed condition, the cufftitle is showing some staining, see photos. This is the first suchs example I've encountered. Very rare original cufftitle in good condition!
