Dutch Pilot's leather flight helmet (Valhelm, Frans Model). World War 1 French model leather flight helmet as introduced at the Dutch Airforce Department (LVA - Luchtvaart Afdeling) in 1915. This model flight helmet was still in use untill May 1940. This is a cork construction helmet, covered with brown leather. The helmet is complete with chinstrap, the chinstrap has regrettably been damaged and repaired at one point, see photo. There are normal damages and traces caused by usage, this helmet is approximately 100 years old. The helmet is not visible maker marked or dated. Scarce and rare original Dutch Pilot's leather flight helmet!
