Rare original SS-VT Visor Cap
Rare original early SS-VT/Waffen-SS EM/NCO's Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). The SS-Verfügungstruppe were formed in 1934 as combat troops for the Nazi Party (NSDAP). the SS-VT was officially renamed the Waffen-SS in a speech made by Adolf Hitler on 19 July 1940. Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. SS Officers and certain senior NCO ranks were responsible for purchasing their own uniforms and headgear. This is a nice quality, privately purchase, field-grey wool/tricot blend construction SS-VT EM/NCO's type visor cap, the cap features a wide, black woolen centerband and white wool 'Waffenfarbe' piping to the top of the crown edge and both the top and bottom edges of the black woolen centerband. The interior of the cap is fully lined in an orange brown oil cloth, the cap is complete with a slightly damaged celluloid sweat-diamond, the sweat-diamond is size '57' marked. The brown coloured leather sweatband is in good used condition, there is a RZM tag beneath the sweatband marked with 'SS-Dienstmütze'. There is a ink stamp "RZM SS" on the underside of the visor. The cap is complete with its original zinc type cap-eagle and cap-skull (Totenkopf). The cap shows normal traces of usage, see photos, the cap is in overall good condition and has a great shape. Scarce and hard to find original early SS-VT EM/NCO's Visor Cap in good condition!
