Russian / Soviet M27 Infantry Officer's Budenovka. A budenovka (будёновка) is a an archetypal part of the Communist military uniforms of the Russian Civil War (1917-1922) and later conflicts. Its official name was the "broadcloth helmet" (шлем суконный). Named after Red Army cavalry commander Semyon Budyonny. It is a soft, grey woolen hat that covers the ears and neck. The cap features a peak and folded earflaps that can be buttoned under the chin. The front of the high quality smooth grey woolen cap shows a red coloured wool star indicating infantry troops. An enamel cap-badge is attached to the red star. The cap is showing a nice tailor label which is sewn to the luxury type lining. There is some moth damage. Officer's type budenovka caps are very rare and hard to find. Nice and scarce original officer's infantry budenovka in good used condition!
