 Soviet 'Joseph Stalin' Wall Plaque. Joseph Stalin was a Soviet Russian politician who gained dictatorial power over the Soviet Union in the 1920s and held it until his death in 1953. Stalin was one of the Bolshevik revolutionaries who assisted in the October Revolution in Russia. From 1922 until his death in 1953 he was the official General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The wood inlay image is showing Stalin in his wartime uniform. It is constructed on a multiplex plate which is approximately sized 51 x 39 cms. The lacquer is showing some cracks. This wall plaque probably dates from somewhere around the 50s.
