Georgien Volunteer Sleeve Shield

Description

Nice printed Sleeve Shield intended for a member within the 'Georgien Legion' (Ärmelabzeichen). The 822th Georgian infantry battalion was stationed at Zandvoort (Holland) in September 1943. On 10 January 1945 the Georgian battalion had to replace the Caucasians on Texel. On 6 April 1945 the Georgians are rebelling and kill the 400 Germans in their battalion. This type of shield was most likely introduced around 1943, these were worn by members within the Georgien Legion. The shield is in good unissued condition, showing some small staining and traces of age. I've found a few of these badges, you will get a similar example as shown in good unissued condition. A nice original piece of Eastern volunteer insignia!
