German 'Schutzpolizei' Service Tunic
German Police Service Tunic (Dienstrock) as intended for a 'Hauptwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei'. The police were divided into eight assorted branches of service and during the restructuring the different police agencies were assigned specific identifying 'Truppenfarbe' (Branch Colors), with green truppenfarbe being allocated to the 'Schutzpolizei des Reichs' (National Protection Police). The German Police had no enlisted ranks with the lowest rank being an 'Unterwachtmeister' which was equivalent to the German army rank of Unteroffizier. This is a nice police service tunic as intended for a 'Hauptwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei'. Nice quality, light weight, Police green, wool/rayon blend construction service tunic. The straight cut sleeves have simulated French cuffs in chocolate brown wool with dual ornamental buttons to the outside sleeve seams and green wool branch-colour piping to the top edges. The upper left sleeve has a nice quality, machine embroidered, police nco's sleeve eagle without city name. The sleeve eagle is originally machine-sewn to the sleeve. There is a lay flat collar with a metal hook and loop neck closure, a pair of green coloured collar-tabs are nicely machine-sewn to the collar. There is some moth damage to the underside of the collar, see photos, this is not visible in display. The tunic has slip-on type shoulder boards in bright, silver/aluminum braid on a green rayon base. The buttons are all the silver washed, pebbled alloy type and appear to have their original stitching. There are loops for one award. The tunic comes together with a nice tomak DRL Sports Badge in Bronze and a nice Police 8 year long service ribbon-bar. The tunic is nicely marked with 'Lago MU' (München) and dated 1940. Overall is the tunic in very good condition with minimal wear. This tunic will make a great display, stunning original Police tunic!
