Impressive Luftwaffe 'Legion Condor' Grouping

Impressive Luftwaffe 'Legion Condor' Grouping named to 'Oberfeldwebel Theobalt Roemelt' of the '2.Kampfgeschwader 2' who was Killed in Action on 23 August 1942 above England when his Dornier Do 217 exploded in the air. Theobalt was a member of the Legion Condor and served on the Western Front until the Dieppe Raid. Theobalt is buried at the Marham cemetery (see last photo, copyright: geograph.org.uk)

The grouping consists of his very nice high quality, privately purchased blue/grey wool construction 1935 pattern Luftwaffe four-pocket tunic (Waffenrock) as intended for an 'Oberfeldwebel der Flieger'. The tunic features a vertical, four button, front closure. The right breast has a very nice quality hand-embroidered type breast-eagle neatly hand-stitched to the tunic. A pair of yellow-coloured collar tabs, both showing four rank-gulls, is nicely hand-sewn to the collar. The tunic is having shoulder-boards of the sew-in type having the yellow 'Waffenfarbe' indicating an 'Oberfeldwebel der Flieger'. There are award-loops on the left breast for wear of three awards and a set of loops to the right breast for wear of a Spanish Cross. The interior of the tunic is lined in grey rayon. The tunic is complete with a tailor label from tailor 'R. Steinert' from Altenburg. A matching pair of straight legged trousers is included.

Included are his original awards being an:
- Spanish Cross in Silver
- Iron Cross 1st Class, unmarked 'Zimmermann'
- Luftwaffe Air Gunner Badge in tombak by 'F.W. Assmann'
- DRA Sports Bagde

Together with the grouping comes a big map full of documents including various letters about him being missing after a mission above Britain and letters confirming his death on 23 August 1942, probably during the Dieppe Raid. Included is an original death certificate (Heldentot-Urkunde). His 4 year long service award certificate is also included and various decorative newsletters published for members within his Luftwaffe unit. Please note that only a small selection of the documents has been photographed. 

Also included is an early photo-album and a large amount of loose photographs showing many interesting photographs of various airplanes on the ground as well as in the air on missions, see close up photos for details. The larger portrait photos showing Theobalt are showing him wearing the exact tunic included in this grouping, the tunic has been period promoted to his new ranks so the insignia including breast-eagle have been changed various times as can be seen in the photographs, the NCO braid around the collar is however exactly the same with the same sewing and cleary recognized in the portrait photos. 

This fantastic grouping originates directly from the family in Germany and was not offered on the market before. Unique opportunity to aquire a fantastic untouched grouping from both a Legion Condor Veteran as well as a (KIA) Westfront/Dieppe Raid participant making this a truly interesting grouping for further research!
