Kriegsmarine Admirals Greatcoat to Konteradmiral 'Walter Isendahl'

Kriegsmarine Greatcoat (Mantel) as intended for an Admiral's rank. The Greatcoat/surcoat belonged to the standard equipment of every soldier. The greatcoat could be worn in cold weather or rain and all other conceivable situations. This is a heavy quality dark navy-blue woolen construction privately purchased Admiral's type greatcoat having bright blue lapel facings indicative of Admiral officer rank, it has two rows of six gold coloured front closure buttons. greatcoat. The buttons are the typical gold coloured 'Kriegsmarine' marked navy type buttons. The greatcoat is complete with a pair of sew-in type General's type shoulder-boards as intended for an 'Konteradmiral'. The greatcoat is fully lined with grey lining material. The greatcoat is having built-in dagger hangers underneath one of the pocket flaps. The greatcoat is having a name-tag in the neck with the name 'Isendahl' and a nice tailor label from the 'Deutscher Offizier-Verein' from Berlin in the inner-pocket, the label is named to 'Herrn Isendahl' and dated 31 March 1915. Konteradmiral z.V. Walter Isendahl (10 September 1872 in Braunschweig - 30 April 1945 in Berlin). He retired from Naval Service in 1922 and was recalled to service in World War II. Isendahl served as the Representative of the Commander-in-Chief of the Kriegsmarine for Special Tasks in Southern Russia from 26 July 1941 until 31 January 1943. In this capacity he was responsible for the security and handling of written materials captured at Russian naval facilities and shipyards. Presumably, Isendahl was chosen for this duty in light of his experiences in the Crimea in World War I. He went missing and died at the end of the war in Berlin. Exact date of death is unknown. Date of death is officially set at 30 April 1945. He was promoted to Konteradmiral z.V. on 01 August 1941. He probably reissued this greatcoat during his World War 2 careerd. The greatcoat is in very good condition showing minor traces of usage, see photos. Rare and hard to find original over 100 years old named Kriegsmarine Admiral's greatcoat, a true piece of history!
