Luftwaffe Field Division 'Splittertarn' Jacket
Luftwaffe Field Division 'Splittertarn' Camouflage Jacket (Felddivision Tarnfeldbluse für Mannschaften). When the Luftwaffe field divisions were being formed in late 1942 the need for proper camouflage garments was raised and a design for an inexpensive, easy to manufacture field jacket, suitable for ground combat, was proposed and accepted in late 1942. This is a three quarter length, non-reversible, waterproofed HBT (Drillich) construction jacket with printed 'Splittertarn' (splinter pattern) camouflage, the jacket is having a reed-green coloured interior with green/olive coloured cotton used for the pocket bags. The jacket is nicely size marked and dated January 1944 (1 44). The jacket is complete with all glass type buttons, the breast-eagle has been removed. Shoulder-board loops and buttons are present. The jacket is showing normal traces of usage and some minor damages, see photos for details. The jacket is still showing nice strong colours. Great for a late war Luftwaffe Field Division display, hard to find desirable original jacket!
