WH (Heer) Feldwebel's Summer Field Blouse 1942
WH (Heer) Cotton Summer Field Blouse (Sommer Feldbluse). The M42 style field blouse is made of fieldgrey cotton cloth and is nicely RB.Nr. marked on the inside, the tunic has four, non-pleated, pockets and field-grey finished, pebbled metal buttons. There is a six-button front closure using the same type of buttons. There is a dark-green woolen lay flat collar with a metal hook and loop neck closure. NCO Braid is nicely machine-sewn around the collar of the tunic. A pair of standard EM's type collar tabs are orginally machine-sewn to the collar. The collar-tabs are having the basic generic grey branch colour, the different branches of service within the German army were allocated a particular identifying 'Waffenfarbe' (branch of service) color which was generally displayed on the collar tabs. An exception to this rule were the general service collar tabs (Einheitskragenspiegel) for EM/NCO personnel that did not utilize the branch of service color enabling them to be worn by personnel serving in all branches of service. The tunic has buttons and loops for slip-on shoulder boards, the tunic comes with an original pair of M40 type shoulder-straps as intended for a 'Feldwebel' within the 'Pionier-Bataillon 295'. A flat-wire woven NCO's type breast-eagle is original machine-sewn to the tunic. The right, front-closure panel lining is marked with size-stamps (chest-size 92cms) and the tunic is nicely dated 1942 (F42). The Pionier-Bataillon 295 was destroyed in Stalingrad in January 1943. After its destruction, the battalion was reconstituted on 13 April 1943 from the 'Pionier-Ersatz-Bataillon 4'. It was then stationed in Norway. The tunic is in untouched condition as found. There is some minor moth-damage to the collar, see photos. Otherwise in very good condition. Great original summer field blouse!
