Description

Wehrmacht (Heer) Officer's Tunic as intended for an 'Oberleutnant der Infanterie' (Infantry). The German Officer’s service tunic followed the basic design of the Enlisted Men/NCO’s field blouse, the most readily visible difference (besides the insignia) are the turned up French cuffs. This is a nice quality, 'privately purchased' early 'Alter-Art' style field-grey wool tunic with dark-green collar. The tunic is in clearly used and worn condition with traces of usage and small damages. The buttons are all the field-grey aluminum pebbled examples. The tunic is complete with all insignia, including a nicely hand-embroidered breast-eagle, shoulder boards and officer's type collar tabs. Both the collar tabs and shoulder-boards are piped in the white 'Truppenfarbe' (branch colour) indicating the Infantry. All insignia look to have been period applied. The shoulder boards are sewn to the tunic. There are many loops to attach various awards and a ribbont-bar to wearer's left breast and loops for a German Cross to the right breast. The tunic is fully lined, the lining material is showing various repairs indicating that this early tunic has been worn for a long period of time during the war. The tunic is not showing any visible markings or tags. Nice original early Infantry Officer's Tunic in clearly used and worn condition!
