WH (Heer) Pionier Officer's M42 Field Blouse
Wehrmacht (Heer) Pionier Officer's M42 Field Blouse (Feldbluse M42) as intended for a 'Leutnant der Pioniere' (Engineers). The development of the M42 field blouse can be traced back to April 1933 with the introduction of the first pattern field blouses. Modifications of the M33 field blouse had evolved into the M36 Field Blouse and in 1940 into the M40 Field Blouse which was followed by the M41 Field Blouse with minor variations. The M42 Field Blouse was introduced in 1942 and was the first field blouse with four unpleated front pockets. The separate belt support hook suspenders have now been replaced by short integral straps. This is an EM's issue tunic which has been upgraded to an Officer's rank. The high quality wool/rayon blend construction field blouse has 6 front closure buttons and four, non-pleated, front pockets. The field blouse is having a nicely hand-embroidered officer's type eagle hand-sewn to the breast. A pair of black piped engineer officers collar-tabs is hand-sewn to the collar, the sewing of the previous EM's collar tabs can still be seen. Shoulder-board loops and buttons are present, a pair of officer's shoulder-boards is sewn to the shoulder-strap loops. The interior of the field blouse is partially lined in grey coloured rayon, there is a small bandage pocket on the lower right, the pocket is nicely maker marked with a RB.Nr. The field blouse is nicely size marked (chest size 88cms). The tunic is showing only minimal traces of usage and is in overall very good condition, see photos. Stunning original Engineer Officer's M42 field blouse!
