  US Bronze Star Medal in Box. The Bronze Star Medal was instituted on 4 February 1944 and was awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievements or meritorious service in the combat zone. The medal comes in its original box and is complete with ribbon bar and miniature and comes in its original box, the box is in good condition. The medal is nicely machine engraved with his name 'Emil J. Fligar'. Information about his war service could be found online in his obituary published in 'FLORIDA TODAY' on Oct. 3, 2006: "Emil J. Fligar, 90, of Titusville died September 25, 2006 in Titusville. Born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 22, 1916, he lived in Brevard County since 1975. He was a US Army Combat Infantryman from WWII. While in the service he served in the North African, Sicilian, Southern France and German campaigns. Following WWII he was a guard at the Neremberg trials. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star.". Nice original set which merits further investigation!
