US M1 Combat Helmet
US M1 Combat Helmet. The M-1 helmet was developed as a replacement for the M-1917 helmet that had seen use since WW1. The M-1 helmet was approved for production in June of 1941. Early models had solid loops (fixed bale) for the chin straps but they broke off to often and were replaced with a moveable hinged loop.This is an early type helmet with the fixed bale loops and front seam stainless steel rim. Various stamped numbers are visible inside the helmet. The helmet is complete with its original webbing chinstrap. The helmet comes with its original liner, complete with leather chinstrap. The liner is nicely marked with the logo of the 'MSA' company and dated 1945. The front of the liner is showing some traces of a decal. The helmet is complete with netting as found. The helmet is showing normal damages and scratches caused by usage, see photos. Nice original M1 helmet in good condition!
US 'M1 Combat Helmet' (gevechtshelm). De M-1 gevechtshelm was een ontwikkeld als vervanging voor de M-1917 helm welke in gebruik was sinds de Eerste Wereldoorlog. De M-1 helm werd ingesteld voor gebruik in juni 1941. Vroege uitvoeringen van de M1 helm hadden vast gesoldeerde oogjes voor de kinriem, deze braken snel af en werden later vervangen voor scharnierende oogjes. Dit is een vroeg type helm met de vast gesoldeerde oogjes en een roestvrijstalen rand om de helm. In de helm staan diverse nummers gestempeld. De helm is compleet met zijn originele webbing kinriempje. In de helm zit de binnenhelm, deze is mooi maker gemarkeerd met het logo van de firma 'MSA', het binnenwerk is 1945 gedateerd. De binnenhelm is compleet met leren kinriempje. Op de voorkant van de binnenhelm lijkt of er een decal heeft gezeten. De helm is compleet met een netje zoals samen gevonden. De helm vertoont normale gebruikssporen, zie foto's. Mooie originele M1 helm in goede staat!
