'Deutschland Erwache' Standard and Pole Top
World War II German "Deutschland Erwache" Standard and Pole Top (Standarte mit Standartenadler). The multi-piece construction double sided flag is produced in red rayon. Both sides are showing a white roundel to the center of the flag, trimmed in silver tresse, inside the rondel is a black swastika, with silver tresse lining the inner arms. One side of the flag is showing the script "Deutschland Erwache" (Germany Awake) and the other side is showing the script "Nat.Soz.Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" - "Sturmabteilung", this side has a red leather patch at the top, where the main pole would rest on the flag. This was in place to prevent wear and damage to the flag in this area. The flag is trimmed with red/black/white cloth fringe around the edges, slightly damaged in one corner, see photos. The flag is having a tunnel-loop to place it on the dowel of the Standarte. The flag is sized approximately 63 x 75 cms. The flag shows some small spots and staining but is in overall nice and good condition. The pole top is consisting of a large black Swastika in a wreath having the early style eagle on top. The pole top is still showing nice silver and gold finish with the expected age-patina. The pole top is engraved at the bottom of the wreath with the designer 'Otto Gahr' and '1923' on the other side. The pole top is approximately 57,5cms high. Extremely rare and highly sought after set. Unique opportunity to buy one of the most iconic items of the Third Reich!
