Description

WH (Heer) 'Nachrichten' (Signals) EM/NCO's Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. Although enlisted personnel were issued their caps from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored caps. The cap is complete with slightly damaged celluloid manufacturers sweat-diamond ('Raute'), size 57 marked. The leather sweatband is in very good condition. Underneath the sweatband is a manufacturer marking from a tailor from Frankfurt am Main and the visor is dated 1936. The visor cap is also 'Nachrichten-Abteilung 29' unit marked. The Visor cap is piped in the bright-yellow (Zitronengelb) 'Truppenfarbe' (branch-colour) for Signals personnel. The simulated leather chinstrap is attached to silver officers type buttons as found like this. The cap is complete with its original early tombak cap-eagle and tombak wreath with aluminum cocarde. The insignia are showing a nice darkened age patina. The cap is showing only minimal traces of storage and is in overall very good, unissued condition, original protection paper is still present inside the crown, see photos.
