Description

Battle Damaged German M16 Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M16). The German M16 Helmet was developed in late 1915 and introduced in the spring of 1916, this was the first modern German steel helmet. The steel construction M16 helmet has been used as a grave marker and shows some holes on top where it has been attached on top of a grave. The shell is showing various traces of shrapnell battle damage. The outside has once been cleaned from rust (probably caused due to having been outside on a grave for a period of time), remains of mimikri camouflage can be seen on the shell. The helmet is complete with its original leather liner which is in good condition with minor (shrapnell) damage, see photos. The inside of the shell is showing traces of rust. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Si66'. 'Si' is indicating production by the 'Eisenhütte Silesia' from Paruschowitz. The helmet is complete with a leather chinstrap, the chintrap might have been replaced once. Great looking original German WW1 battle damaged helmet!
