This is a very nice Imperial Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) U-Boat War Badge 1918 (U-Boot-Kriegsabzeichen 1918) which is executed in tombak (Buntmetall). The U-Boat War Badge 1918 was instituted by 'Kaiser Wilhelm II' on 1 February 1918 for award to all ranks of U-Boat personnel who had served in at least three sorties against the enemy or were wounded in action. The pin & catch are of course fully functional. The heavy quality badge is nicely maker marked with the logo of the company 'AWS' (A. Werner & Sohne, Berlin). One of the rarest makers to be found. Stunning original World War 1 U-Boat badge!
