Prussian M1873 Artillery Sword
Prussian M1873 Artillery Sword/Sabre (Preußen Artilleriesäbel). All enlisted ranks of the 'Feldartillerie' (Field Artillery) and 'Fußartillerie' (Foot Artillery) of the German Empire carried this pattern of sabre, except the Saxon and Bavarian Artillery who carried their own patterns. The sabre is having a dark-brown bakelite grip. The grip is in overall good condition with no chips or cracks. The blade is in good used condition, the manufacturer's marking is partly hidden by the rounded tip, shield shaped, languet, it is maker marked by the company of 'E.&F. Hörster' from Solingen. The blade is showing some staining. It is date marked 'W15' under a Prussian crown on the spine of the blade for King William II 1915. Both the blade and scabberd are showing some normal traces of usage and surface spots, see photos. This Sabre has just recently been found with a house renovation near Wesel (Germany). Nice original untouched wartime issue Prussian Artillery Sabre!
