S98/05 Sawback Combat Bayonet (Seitengewehr 98/05 n.A.), a so called 'butcher' knife. The S98/05 bayonet was introduced in 1905 and modified in 1915 in a new version called 'neuer Art'. The bayonet was a standard issue item and was accompanied by a bayonet frog to be worn on the reverse left side of the load carrying waist belt. The S98/05 bayonet remained in service and was still used during WW2 by both Military and Police units.TheThe bayonet is nicely maker marked by the company of 'Simson & Co' from Suhl and dated 1915. The bayonet and blade are in clearly used condition, the bayonet is having wooden grips which might have been replaced once. The bayonet comes with its original slightly rusted metal scabberd as found. Nice original S98/05 sawback bayonet in good used condition!
