World War 1 German Podium Banner. The black wool banner is showing an Iron Cross within a laurel wreath with the date 1914 / 1915. The iron cross is made of black velvet and the laurel wreath is nicely embroidered in silver wire thread, the date 1914 / 1945 is nicely hand embroidered in silver. There is a small repair to the Iron Cross. The bottom edge of the banner is trimmed with twisted silver wire fringe. The banner is sized approximately 84 x 64 cms. The flag shows some small spots and staining but is in overall good condition being over a hundred years old. This would be a centerpiece display item in a larger Iron Cross collection. Extremely rare and decorative original piece!
