Panzer Assault Badge in Silver '25'

Description

Panzer Assault Badge in Silver for 25 Engagements (Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber mit Einsatzzahl 25). The Panzer Assault Badge in silver was instituted by 'Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch' on '20 December 1939' for award to all ranks of tank personnel who served as a tank commander, driver, gunner or radio operator and had been involved in three different armored assaults on three different days. By 1943 it was realized that the Panzer Assault Badge didn’t sufficiently recognize the number of assaults that the soldiers participated in, in June 1943 four numbered Special Grades of the General Assault badges were introduced with the numerals: 25, 50, 75 and 100 to represent the number of assaults participated in. This is a nice 'Feinzink' example which has great detail and still retains a fair amount of it's original silver finish. The panzer is riveted to the wreath. Of course are the pin and catch fully functional. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'JFS' indicating production by the company of 'Josef Feix & Söhne' in Gablonz an der Neiße. Desirable original badge in good condition!
