WH (Heer) M40 Camouflaged Combat Helmet

Description

WH (Heer) M40 Single Decal Camouflaged Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, (field-applied) camouflage over-paint in random splotches of green and orange/brown. The paint shows normal wear and spots, an Army decal is still visible beneath the camouflage paint. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact and the liner is sized '56'. The liner is nicely named to 'Fritz Schmidt' and also marked with the abbreviation 'St.Fr.H.2'. The shell is marked with maker and size 'ET64' which indicates production by the company 'Eisen-und Hüttenwerke, AG' in Thale/Harz. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '951'. There is a nice dome stamp inside the helmet which indicates Army issue. The helmet regrettably comes without chinstrap. This helmet was found in Holland and was not part of a collection before I got it, I've sold this helmet a while ago and was able to get it back in a trade, so I can offer this nice helmet for sale again. Very nice hard to find original camouflaged helmet!
