This is an Award Document (Urkunde) for the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienst Kreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern). The War Merit Cross was instituted by Adolf Hitler on 18 October 1939. This DIN-A5 sized document was awarded to Oberzahlmeister 'Erich Zander', he was a member within 'Eisb.Pi.Kp.85' (Eisenbahn Pionier Kompanie 85). Zander was born 16 March 1906 in Bochum. This document was handed to him on 1 September 1944. This award document has the facsimile signature Generalleutnant and General der Eisenbahntruppen 'Otto Will' on it. The document is in good condition but has regrettably been folded and perforated, see scans. Nice original award document!
