'Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen' - 'G.B.42'

Description

General Assault Badge (Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen). The General Assault badge was introduced on 1 June 1940 by 'Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch' for award to support personnel who were ineligible for the Infantry or Panzer Assault badges. The heavy quality zinc-type badge is executed in 'Zink', it still reatins a fair amount of its original silver finish. The badge is complete with a functional pin and catch, the hinge however has been resoldered, see close-ups. The badge is maker marked with 'G.B.42' which indicates production by the company of 'Gustav Brehmer' from Markneukirchen. Rare original badge in good used condition!
