WW2 Iron Cross 1st Class 'L/11'

Description

Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. The magnetic cross has a three piece construction with a iron core, the cross does still have the neat so-called: 'Hochpolierte Kanten' and just shows some minor wear and great detail overall. The cross is maker marked 'L/11' (double mark) indicating production by the company of 'Wilhelm Deumer' from Lüdenscheid, this is the later type L/11 marking in a box. The cross is having a functional pin and catch. Nice original cross in good condition!
