British Army Map Plotting Tool (Alidade) in Case. Used for artillery calculations. This dates to the early 1940s and is made from solid brass which has been painted black. The wood case is marked 'Rhine Army Ranges' indicating usage in the post-war occupied German zone. The case is having leather straps, one strap is damaged, see photos. Decorative item in good used condition!
