Cased Luftwaffe Pilots Badge - 'OM'
This is a stunning original WH (Luftwaffe) 'Flugzeugführerabzeichen' (Pilots Badge). The Pilot's badge was originally introduced in january 1935 as an DLV (Deutsche Luftsport Verband) award, the Luftwaffe officially adopted the award on 26 march 1936 by order of 'Hermann Göring'. The badge was awarded to Luftwaffe personnel who completed the theory and training and achieved their military pilot’s licence. This badge is a nice early war example made of tombac (Buntmetall). The badge is nicely maker marked with 'OM'. Nobody knows exactly what OM stands for, but their pilot badges are very high quality and desirable. The badge shows very nice & pronounced detail overall. The badge has naturally a functional pin & catch construction. The badge comes together with it's original typical 'OM' style case as found together. The case is in used condition and showing normal traces of usage and some damage at the corners. Rare and hard to find desirable original pilot's badge in very good condition, they don't come much better than this!
