Cased Wound Badge in Gold '30'
This is a nice example of a maker-marked Gold wound badge (Verwundeten Abzeichen in Gold) that comes in its original box of issue. With the outbreak of World War 2, on 1 Septembert 1939, Hitler re-instituted a slightly modified version of the wound badge by altering the WWI pattern helmet on the badge to the newly designed M35 style helmet. The badge was awarded to both military and uniformed non-military personnel and later, (March 1943), to civilian personnel who received wounds as a result of enemy actions. The badge is a nice 'Buntmetall' piece and is maker marked with number '30', indicating production by the 'Hauptmünzamt' in Wien (Vienna). Of course are the pin and catch fully functional, this is the harder to find type with the so-called wide-pin. The box is showing some normal small damages and usage on the corners and is in overall very good condition. Nice set in good condition!
