Dutch 'Schalkhaar' Police Tunic Grouping
Wartime Dutch 'Schalkhaar' Police Tunic Grouping consisting of the field tunic (Veldtenue), breeches, visor cap and a period pair of black leather boots. The 'Schalkhaar' Police was a Police unit during the war, named after the place Schalkhaar near Deventer. In Schalkhaar was the training facility of the unit. This unit was controlled by the Dutch NSB (Nationaal Socialistische Beweging) movement. The tunic is an original pre-war Dutch police tunic, dated 1937, the tunic has been reissued by the 'Schalkhaar' police during the war and comes with original wartime type Schalkhaar police buttons and (replaced) collar tabs and shoulder boards. The visor cap is a German made visor cap, the chin-strap is a post-war replacement. The trousers are a period pair of unmarked black breeches. See photos for more details. This set originates from the collection of the recently closed Eyewitness Museum and was in display in the diorama in the last picture!
