Eastern Peoples Award 1st Class with Swords in Gold (Verdienstauszeichnung für Angehörige der Ostvölker, 1. Klasse in Gold mit Schwertern). This series of awards was instituted on 14 July 1942 to recognize the contribution of volunteers from the Eastern European countries to Germany's war effort. The zinc type medal just shows some minor wear and great detail overall, the medal unfortunately lost most of its original golden finish. The medal is complete with a functional pin and catch. The medal is not visible maker marked but can very likely be attributed to production by 'Wächtler & Lange' from Mittweida. Nice original badge in good used condition!
