Kriegsmarine 'Tirpitz' Medal Grouping
Kriegsmarine 'Tirpitz' Medal Grouping including a tombac 'Flotten-Kriegsabzeichen' (High-Sea Fleet Badge) with miniature, DRL Sports Badge, portrait-photo and post-war Tirpitz commemorative-patch. The High Seas Fleet Badge was instituted by Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine und Großadmiral: 'Erich Raeder' on '30 April 1941' to recognise the actions of personnel serving on German battleships and cruisers in the battle against England. Bestowal criteria varied with the main qualification being twelve weeks of active service on a battleship or cruiser. The badge is executed in 'Buntmetall' (tombac) and shows great detail. The badge is having a complete and funcitional pin and catch. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'Fec. Adolf Bock, Ausf. Schwerin Berlin' indicating production by the company of 'Schwerin & Söhne' in Berlin. The badge is in stunning condition, still showing nice gold finish on the wreath. A nice 16mm sized miniature of the High Seas Fleat Badge is included. The DRL Sports Badge in Bronze is nicely maker marked by the company of 'Fritz Kohm' from Pforzheim, a less common manufacturer. The portrait-photo has been developed by 'Foto Thode' in Cuxhaven. The set comes together with a post-war commemorative-patch and member's pin from the 'Tirpitz' veteran association. Nice original set as found together!
