Kriegsmarine U-boat War Badge (U-boot-Kriegsabzeichen). The U-Boat War Badge was instituted by Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine und Großadmiral: 'Erich Raeder' on 13 october 1939 for award to all ranks of U-Boat personnel who had served on at least two sorties against the enemy or were wounded in action. The badge is executed in 'Buntmetall' (tombak) and shows great detail and still retains a fair amount of its original golden finish showing polished highlights. The badge is not visible maker marked but can be attributed to production by the company of 'Schwerin' from Berlin. The pin & catch are of course fully functional. The badge is engraved on the back with the sailor's name. Nice original badge in very good condition!
