Luftwaffe Field Division 'Sumpftarn' Jacket
Luftwaffe Field Division Tan/Water Pattern Camouflage Jacket (Felddivision Tarnfeldbluse für Mannschaften). When the Luftwaffe field divisions were being formed in late 1942 the need for proper camouflage garments was raised and a design for an inexpensive, easy to manufacture field jacket, suitable for ground combat, was proposed and accepted in late 1942. This is a three quarter length, non-reversible, waterproofed cotton duck construction jacket with printed 'Sumpftarn' (tan/water pattern) camouflage, the jacket is having a olive coloured interior with tan cotton used for the pocket bags. The jacket is RB.Nr. and size marked, the markings are slightly faded and hard to photograph. The jacket is complete with all buttons, one button is loose but present. The breast-eagle has been removed. Shoulder-board loops and buttons are present. The jacket is showing normal traces of usage and some minor damages, see photos for details. The jacket is still showing nice strong colours. Great for a late war Luftwaffe Field Division display, hard to find desirable original jacket!
This jacket originates from the collection of the recently closed Eyewitness Museum!
