Luftwaffe FJ NCO's Four-Pocket Tunic 'Kreta'

Description

Very nice quality, private purchase blue/grey wool construction 1935 pattern Luftwaffe four-pocket tunic (Waffenrock) as intended for an 'Obereldwebel der Fallschirmjäger/Flieger'. The tunic features a vertical, four button, front closure. The right breast has a very nice quality hand-embroidered breast-eagle neatly hand-stitched to the tunic. A pair of yellow-coloured collar tabs, both having four rank gulls applied, is nicely hand sewn to the collar. Silver NCO braid and yellow piping are machine-sewn around the collar. The tunic is having shoulder-boards of the sew-in type having the golden-yellow 'Waffenfarbe' indicating an Oberfeldwebel within a 'Fallschirmjäger/Flieger' unit. There are award-loops on the left breast for wear of several awards and a ribbon-bar or clasp. A nicely machine-embroidered 'Kreta' cuffitle is hand-sewn to the wearer's left lower-sleeve indicating that this Oberfeldwebel took part in the Battle of Crete and was most likely a paratrooper (Fallschirmjäger). The interior of the tunic is lined in light grey rayon. The tunic is complete with a tailor label from the tailor 'Wilh. Schwarte' from Berlin. The tunic is named and dated 19 July 1938. The tunic is in good used condition, there is some staining and small damages caused by usage. Rare original tunic with original 'Kreta' cufftitle attached, this tunic merits further investigation. Stunning original tunic!
