Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal Camouflage Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its three-tone tan/brown/green 'Normandy' camouflage overpaint, a Luftwaffe decal is clearly visible. A really nice detail is the fact that all three liner retaining rivets have been period replaced by screws and nuts which are showing the same camouflage as the rest of the exteriour, see close up photos. The interior of the helmet is an M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact and the original liner cord is present as well, the leather is in good condition. The liner is a size 56. The shell is marked with maker and size 'ET64'. 'ET' is indicating production by the company of 'Eisen-und Hüttenwerke, AG' from Thale/Harz. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '259'. The helmet is complete with an original early brown leather chinstrap with aluminum roller-buckle and studs. The chinstrap is nicely maker marked and dated, some paint residu is visible on the strap, the strap might have been replaced once. Stunning original Luftwaffe Camouflage Helmet!
