Luftwaffe 'Narvik' Campaign Shield
Description
Product Images
This is a very nice Luftwaffe 'Narvik' campaign shield in Silver, mounted on a piece of Luftwaffe blue-grey wool. The 'Narvikschild' was instuted by Adolf Hitler on 19 August 1940 for award to all Wehrmacht personnel who participated in the battle of Narvik (Norway) between 9 April and 9 June 1940. About 8577 examples have been awarded in total to all branches of service. The harder to find cupal-type shield is complete with its metal back-plate and 4 prongs and still retains it's protective woolen backing. The shield is showing great detail and still retains most of it's original silver finish. The shield does not show a visible makers-mark, it is a so-called Type 1 shield in 'cupal'. Nice original example in very good condition!
