LW 'Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger' in Silver
Luftwaffe 'Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger' in Silver (heavy, medium & dive bombers squadron clasp in silver). The 'Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger und Sturzkampfflieger' was introduced by 'Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring' on 30 January 1941. The clasps were awarded in three grades of, Bronze for twenty operational flights, Silver for sixty operational flights, and Gold for one hundred ten operational flights. This badge is a very nice early 'Buntmetall' (tombac) example of the silver grade clasp. The clasp is nicely maker marked with 'R.S.S.' indicating production by the company of 'Richard Simm & Söhne' from Gablonz an der Neiße. The clasp has naturally a functional pin & catch construction. The clasp still retains most of it's original silver finish and shows a slightly darkened age patina. The clasp comes in it's original case of issue. The case is in good condition with some normal usage to the corners. Nice original set in good used condition!
