Spange to the Iron Cross 2nd Class
Spange 1939 to the Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914 (Wiederholungsspange 1939 für das Eiserne Kreuz 2.Klasse 1914). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross series of awards in the First and Second Classes and established the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross and two new Spangen (Bars) for the first and second class awards to be bestowed to recipients of the 1939 Iron Cross who had also been awarded a first or second class 1914 Iron Cross during WWI. The early nickel silver clasp is not visible maker marked but can be attributed to production by the company of 'Wilhelm Deumer' in Lüdenscheid. The clasp is complete with all 4 prongs. The details are pronounced and stunning, it is showing a nice darkened age-patina. Nice original clasp in very good condition!
