Luftwaffe Jagdgeschwader 53 'War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords' Award Document
This is an Award Document (Urkunde) for the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienst Kreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern). The War Merit Cross was instituted by Adolf Hitler on 18 October 1939. This DIN-A5 sized document was awarded to Unteroffizier 'Ernst Neidig', he was a member within 'I./J.G. 53' (1. Jagd Geschwader 53), known as the "Pik As" (Ace of Spades) Geschwader which included many famous flying aces like 'Werner Mölders' and 'Erich Hartmann' amongst many others. This document was handed to him on 28 September 1940. This award document has been personally signed by General der Flieger 'Bruno Loerzer', Der Kommandierende General des 2. Flieger - Korps. Loerzer was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The award document is in excellent, unfolded condition, see scans. Nice original award document!
