WH (Heer) M40 Single Decal Camouflaged Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, (field-applied) two-toned camouflage over-paint in random splotches of green and orange/brown. The paint shows normal wear and spots, an Army decal is still visible beneath the camouflage paint. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact, the leather is however in heavily used and fragile condition, see photos. The shell is marked with maker and size 'EF64' which indicates production by the company 'Emaillerwerke AG' in Fulda. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '2234'. The helmet is named to Hauptfeldwebel 'Töpfer' (Hptfeldw. Töpfer). The helmet is complete with it's original chinstrap, the chinstrap is nicely maker marked and dated 1940, there is one small repair, see photos. Very nice and hard to find original camouflaged helmet in good used condition!
