WW2 British RAF Combined Pattern Flying Suit
World War 2 British RAF Combined Pattern Flying Suit/Parasuit, also called 'Rhino'. This parachute suit (parasuit) was designed to integrate the harness and parachute in a single torso-covering garment, small and compact enough to allow adequate escape of the airplane. After development of Radar and better fighters the need for this special garment later disappeared. The suit is manufactured from heavy olive drab cotton with twin front zip opening and zipped pockets. The suit is complete with manufacturers label of the 'Irving Air Chute of Great Britain Ltd' company, dated 30 September 1940, the suit is a size 'Large'. This suit would fit perfectly in an early Battle of Britain display. The suit is in very good, most likely unissued, condition. Hard to find piece! The black&white photo is showing a parasuit in use in August 1940, copyright Wikipedia.
